Feb. 17th, 2009 10:48 am MEME GET

Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

I got ... from [info]cloversix.
1. Jesse Lake. I'm fairly certain I met you very first on the Tacoma LJ community and we had a short discussion about his karate classes. XD
2. RPGs. Eeeee.
3. Dr. Horrible <3
4. Good Snark.
5. Fun memes!

1. Sensei Lake was probably my favourite teacher at that school. Although I totally studied ninjutsu, not karate. :P
2. I do a lot more playing/designing than I do actual GMing. Which kind of disappoints me, because it makes me wonder why I do all the designing. But players are just so unreliable. I can never hold a group together for long. Also, I'm unreliable. At least one of my games has ended by me suddenly bringing the whole storyline to a close in one session.
3. Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is amazing, as most of you already know. I'm not sure how to elaborate on this much further.
4. Oh, yeah. Okay. This mostly stems from me hating people. I think the main problem is that they're made out of meat.
5. If one pays a lot of attention to the history of my LJ, one will likely see that I do a lot more memes than I do "real" posts. That's mostly because I'm lazy. For example, I'm living in Gig Harbor now and I hate it. Most of you probably didn't know that. But in a way, I think how I respond to memes tells you more about who I am than a list of things I've done lately. While they're certainly both useful for a portrait of my being, a normal update post is a specific effort to compose myself for the internet. A meme is sort of a surprise to both of us. "What? You want to know what I think about sex with a giant chocolate bunny? Well..."

Dec. 31st, 2008 01:20 pm For the love of crotch

It's time for the LJ year in review!

January: Some big uploads to Mission: Zodiac.
February: I'm reworking Act I of Between the Spaces: Portal-Slayer.
March: I finished up that work on the Mission: Zodiac Planescape Document I was talking about.
April: (I apparently didn't make any posts this month ^_^;;)
May: It's been a while since I made one of these.
June: For those interested, this year's Out in the Park is at Lincoln Park, rather than Wright.
July: "Cerberus will fucking kill you.
August: Except that I did something totally different for this one.
September: The large hadron collider fired up last night.
October: They say a picture is worth a thousand words.
November: I hate </a></b></a>[info]neliobelmont
December: Small update to Mission: Zodiac.

In other news, I'm noticing I haven't really posted much this year. I'm always doing things (life is full of doing things), but they're such boring, mundane things that I never want to talk about them. "Oh, I was working at the Matrix today. Board games are totally organised."

I should try harder, though. It's the little things I do every day that make me who I am.

So as only those of you who I talk to IRL would know, I'm getting married soon (and by "soon" I mean "the end of next week"). That's coming along nicely.

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now (even if we don't speak often or ever) please post a comment with a completely made up, fictional memory of you and me.

It can be anything you want - good or bad - but it has to be fake.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph in your LJ and see what your friends come up with.

If you like, please post a picture in my comments of what you think describes me when you think about what/who I am. Give no written explanation though. Just an image. Macros are ok.

Copy and paste into your own journal and see what others think about you in pictures!

Dec. 8th, 2007 02:38 pm I got it from [info]anowyn this time

YEAR IN REVIEW: Take the first sentence (or two) from the first post of each month of 2007. That's your year in review. Italics are updates if need be.

JANUARY
No one was left who could remember how it had happened, how the world had fallen under darkness.

FEBRUARY
Interviews from [info]mbd1981 and [info]pairatime (in that order):

MARCH
http://www.xkcd.com/c197.html

APRIL
It's about the brain adapting to new and expanded senses.

MAY
I was just thinking it would be awesome to start a metal band and sing songs about Norse people. Does anybody play guitar?

JUNE
When I saw this quiz on his LJ, my first thought was that it was one of those worthless quizzes.

JULY
According to this quiz I got from my friend Roy, I'm Odin:

AUGUST
and serves as content, since I don't really update anymore.

SEPTEMBER
I got two responses from my questionnaire last time, and they both agreed with what I thought already.

OCTOBER
Sammadre (male bariaur expert 5, free league)

NOVEMBER
I've been tinkering with Mission: Zodiac again, and I think I've settled on a final version (at least for now).

DECEMBER
(This seems to be my first post this month)

In other news, I saw The Golden Compass yesterday. I thought it was pretty good. Casting was great, and most of the differences from the book were just because a movie is a different medium than a book. Also, Serafina Pekkala is both amazing and hot.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In August I gave [info]xfuneralxrosex a life-saving blood transfusion (50 points). Last Saturday I punched [info]horitsu_kami in the arm (-10 points). In July on a flight to Bangladesh, I stole the emergency flight information card (-40 points). Last Thursday I gave [info]moshker a kidney (1000 points). In September I stole [info]the_monkey_king's purse (-30 points).

Overall, I've been nice (970 points). For Christmas I deserve a Lego set!

Sincerely,

When I saw this quiz on his LJ, my first thought was that it was one of those worthless quizzes. You know, you type in a random string of letters two or three times (like your name and a colour - doesn't even have to be your favourite colour, how would the quiz know?) and it runs them through some algorithm and spits out a number. Then I thought what if it was an actual, genuine survey on the matter? Turns out that it is. You actually give answers to relevant questions and it uses such to calculate your percent. Anyway, I'm apparently going to die like a bitch when the doomsday comes:

Your Score: Chaotic-Neutral

54% Good, 70% Chaotic

Plane of Existence: Limbo, "Plane of Ever-Changing Chaos". Description: An alien, anarchistic and unpredictable plane. Notable Inhabitants: Githzerai - human-like monks; Slaad - frog-like creatures.

Examples of Chaotic-Neutrals (Ethically Chaotic, Morally Neutral)

Barret Wallace (FFVII)

Yuffie Kisaragi (FFVII)

Tyler Durden

Dr. Frankenstein

Doctor Moreau

Tarzan

Peeves the Poltergeist

Fred & George Weasly

"Wild animals"

The almost totally unpredictable non-conformist loner. Will stand by and watch the white knight battle the black knight without feeling compelled to take sides.

Will keep their word if in their best interest

May attack an unarmed foe

May use poison

May help those in need

Prefers to work alone

Responds poorly to higher authority

Distrustful of organizations

Self preservation is strong but will not go to the same extent as Neutral-Evils.

They can generally be swayed easily.

Chaotic Neutral "Pure Chaos"

"Free Spirit"

A chaotic neutral [person] follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn't strive to protect others' freedom. He avoids authority, resents restrictions, and challenges traditions. A chaotic neutral [person] does not intentionally disrupt organizations as part of a campaign of anarchy. To do so, he would have to be motivated either by good (and a desire to liberate others), evil (and a desire to make others suffer), or be lawful neutral. A chaotic neutral [person] may be unpredictable, but his behavior is not totally random. He is not as likely to jump off a bridge as to cross it.

Chaotic neutral is freedom from both society's restrictions and a do-gooder's zeal.

Other Alignments and Tendencies (Tendenices are what you would more often sway towards; esp. for Neutrals):

0-39% Good, 0-39% Chaotic: Lawful-Evil

0-39% Good, 40-60% Chaotic: Neutral-Evil

0-39% Good, 61-100% Chaotic: Chaotic-Evil

40-60% Good, 0-39% Chaotic: Lawful-Neutral

40-60% Good, 40-60% Chaotic: True Neutral

61-100% Good, 0-39% Chaotic: Lawful-Good

61-100% Good, 40-60% Chaotic: Neutral-Good

61-100% Good, 61-100% Chaotic: Chaotic-Good

Link: The Alignment Test written by xan81 on OkCupid Free Online Dating, home of the The Dating Persona Test

Works for me. See how I'm almost CG? He's got simplified planes, though. I think I'm a better fit for Ysgard, CN (G).

Feb. 11th, 2007 12:46 am From [info]gardenofsnow

You're a 90's kid if:
(matches in bold, comments in italics)

You can finish this [ice ice _ _ _ _ ] I'm like, stop! Collaborate and listen. Ice is back with a brand new invention.

You remember watching Doug, Ren & Stimpy, Pinky and the Brain. And Animaniacs, which Pinky and the Brain was a spinoff from.

AAAAAAAH! Real Monsters!

You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!" Fortunately I got over it.

You just cant resist finishing this . . . "Iiiiiiin west Philidelphia born and raised . . ." On the playground is where I spent most of my days

You remember TGIF, Step by Step, Family Matters, Dinosaurs, and Boy Meets World Steve Urkel was awesome

You remember when it was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons. My mom wouldn't let me wake up at 5 to watch Transformers, though.

You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school. I hated that game.

You remember reading "Goosebumps"

You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.

You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence . . . not.

When everything was settled by rock paper scissors..or bubble gum bubble gum in a dish...and even better daddy had a donkey inky binky bonky. All but that third one.

When cops and robbers was a daily activity.

When we played Hide and go seek until our legs grew numb.

When we used to obey our parents.

You used to listen to the radio all day long just to record your FAVORITE song of ALL time.

"Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?" was both a game and a TV game show.

Captain Planet. He's a Hero. Gonna take pollution down to zero!

You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the white ranger, were meant to be together.

You remember when Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis became popular. I had both.

You always wanted to send in a tape to America's Funniest Home Videos . . . but never taped anything funny.

You remember watching Home Alone 1, 2 , and 3 . . . and tried to pull the pranks on "intruders" I'd rewind the first movie to the part where the pranks start, and just watch that part over and over again.

You remember watching The Magic School Bus, Wishbone, and Reading Rainbow on PBS. I met LeVar Burton. He's a cool guy.

You remember when Yo-Yos were cool. It always frustrated me that I couldn't use one properly.

You remember those Where's Waldo books.

You remember eating Warheads.

You remember watching the 1st Batman, Aladdin, Ninja Turtles, and 3 Ninjas movies. I still watch Aladdin.

You remember Ring Pops.

You remember drinking Surge, and Tang. It's a kick in a glass!

You remember when every thing was "da BOMB!"

When they made the new lunchables so that you could make pizza AND tacos. Did anybody ever buy the taco Lunchables? I never saw anyone eating those.

You remember boom boxes vs. cd players.

Making those little paper fortune cookie things, and then predicting your life with them. All the girls at my school just made ones that made fun of you, though.

You played and/or collected "Pogs"

You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet, or Nano and brought it everywhere. I knew people who did, though.

. . . Furbies.

You haven't always had a computer, and it was cool to have the internet. Man, the internet was SO GREAT when I first started using it.

And Windows 95 was the best. It was so much more awesome than 3.1.

You watched the original cartoons of Rugrats, Power Rangers, and Ninja Turtles. Other than Power Rangers not being a cartoon... Man, I was so excited about the Green Ranger miniseries. I would come home after school totally looking forward to seeing what would happen next. Tommy was such a badass.

Michael Jordan was a king.

Pencils and erasers were the stuff! I collected them. Especially erasers. I had a lot of those cool shaped erasers.

All your school supplies were "Lisa Frank" brand. I'm not a girl.

You remember when the new Beanie Babies and Talking Elmo were always sold out. I remember people getting violent over Tickle Me Elmo. It was kind of like the violence over getting a PS3, except that Tickle Me Elmo is a useful thing to have.

You collected those Beanie Babies.

Carebears .... Gummi Bears were cooler, though.

Gak was the coolest stuff invented. Man, Gak was great.

Lambchop's song never ended. And it never will because it's the song that never ends it just goes on and on my friend someone started singing it not knowing what it was and they'll continue singing it forever just because it's the song that never ends it just goes on and on my friend someone started singing it not knowing what it was and they'll continue singing it forever just because....... One time I sung that song for half an hour. It was awesome.

The old dollar bills.

Silver dollars, which were cool to have. I'd rather use coins than bills. However, I'd also rather use mahou no caado than normal cash...

You remember a time before the WB. I also remember when the WB had cool shows.

You collected all the Troll dolls. Nah, I only had one or two.

If you even know what an original walkman is.

You remember wanting to sit on the orange Nickelodeon couch.

You've gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

You know the Macarena by heart. Not anymore, thankfully.

"Talk to the hand" . . .

You always said, "Then why don't you marry it!" We said such silly things in that decade.

You went to McDonald's to play in the playplace. I'm sad that they won't let me in those anymore.

You remember playing on merry go rounds at the playground.

Before the MySpace frenzy . . . Care bear stare!

Before the Internet & text messaging . . .

Before Sidekicks & iPods . . . I remember when all my music was in .mid format, and I thought .mod files were completely awesome.

Before MIKE JONES . . .

Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX . . . I got a NES in 1987.

Before Spongebob . . . ROCKO didn't need a pineapple under the sea.

Back when you put off the 5 hours of homework you had every night. Who had that much homework?

When light up sneakers were cool. ...you mean they're not anymore?

When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.

When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing.

When we recorded stuff on VCRs.

When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off of our walkman.

Way back.

Before we realized all this would eventually disappear.

Who would have thought you'd miss the 90's so much!!!!! Oh, I knew. I knew the day I realised that nobody would make games as good as FF6, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana again that I'd be missing the 90s.

I never realized I was such a bloody nineties child! I spent the entirety of my kidness in the 90s. How would I not realise this?

Interview from [info]crashghost:

1. For the entire long period of time I've known you (three years almost?), you've been hinting at something that is supposed to go down sometime this year. Is that still happening, and if so, about what time should the world expect it?
Yes. Probably starting around October-November. I think.

2. What is your favoured method of killing people and why?
I think sneaking up and breaking the neck is my favourite. It's quick, it's quiet, it makes me feel like a ninja. If I actually have to engage in combat with the person, I like to slash across the throat, preferably with my armblade. Sometimes energy drain works very effectively, but I usually just drop people unconscious with that one.

3. What's your favorite physical quality in somebody of the same sex?
Hmmm. Probably a sexy tummy.

4. Cat ears or angel wings?
While those are both totally awesome, I think I prefer cat ears. Just a little bit.

5. What is the coolest way to die?
In Ragnarok.

Interviews from [info]mbd1981 and [info]pairatime (in that order):

1. Would spaghettification tickle, hurt, feel like a amusement park ride, or have some sort of other impact on you?
Given the velocities involved, I think I'd barely notice it before I was destroyed. You on, the other hand, would have time dilation assist you in having a lot of time to observe my precise reactions to the whole thing.

2. What is one of your favorite quotes, and who said it?
Today I'm going to go with 'Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is the voice that quietly says "I will try again tomorrow."' I'm not sure where the quote originated, though; my friend Ben told it to me.

3. How often do you cut your hair, and what is your weapon of choice?
I don't, unless you count trimming. My weapon of choice to do so is force of will.

4. How often do you go ninjaing?
Enough.

5. What was the most delicious dinner you have ever eaten?
Dragon. It's only properly flavourful if you kill it yourself, though.

1. What’s your favourite game of all time and why?
'Who's the best killer'. I'm really good at it.

2. What D&D and HERO characters do you have right now?
I'm going to assume that you're referring to characters I actively play in a campaign. Unfortunately they're all D&D characters, and more unfortunately all but one of them is an RPGA character. Anyway, here's the list:
Furiel et Mazushim, faux-arcanaloth. Librarian and scholar, aspirant to the throne of the Tower Arcane, personal rival of Helekanalaith, Keeper of the Tower
Puck, catgirl assassin named after the very famous Puck the Planeswalker
Ji'dore, far dareis mai of the Cor'Algai sept
Nasim Kiyanfar, slayer of demons, son of the phoenix, honoured guardian of Snakebite and Hellfire
Mal'haken, Who Dances with Sandstorms, legendary adept and Twenty-First among the Ninety-Four Desert Winds
Hephaenestous U'Morael (with special guest Pfollieneszgamar), noble mage of House U'Morael, secret servant of the Scarlet Brotherhood, alleged student in the College of Sages and Sorcery, member pending of the most honourable Eyes of the Great Observo
Shnabubula, mailman and deliveryperson extraordinaire
Xaelyphor, elven sorcerer

3. What fanfiction do you read?
I generally don't. I found a couple people who did some neat Harry Potter fanfiction, but that's about it.

4. Are you gay?
No.

5. They are re-picking the 7 Wonders of the world. If it was up to you what would you pick?
Are we allowed to keep any of the previous ones? Because I think the two Great Pyramids at Giza are pretty cool. Unfortunately, most of the developments we've made over the past few centuries aren't monument-style in nature. I'd pick things like the Cassini space probe, the Mars robots, and quantum electrodynamics.

Interview from [info]neliobelmont:

1) If you were given the chance to completely destroy human society, would you?
Yes. I'd likely have plans for rebuilding it, though.

2) Who do you find more attractive, [info]shiguma or [info]darkain?
[info]shiguma is demi-Asian.

3) What is your overall goal with you revised D20 project and 'Planar HERO', are you doing it strictly as a hobby or do you intend to somehow make a living off of it?
Just as a hobby. Something to use for my own purposes someday, and something hopefully other people will want to use. If I were to make money off of any of my game design projects, it would be Mission: Zodiac.

4) What is your favourite weapon?
Armblades.

5) If an extra-dimensional being were to offer you anything you could ever want, but required you to kill your closest friends with out ever being able to restore them to life, would you do it?
I think that's a bit of a contradictory scenario, because my closest friends are a part of what I want.

Interview from [info]genechildmewtwo:

1.) What is your 2nd favourite food? (As in the one that's almost as good as the favorite, and not the 2nd food to be your favorite.)
Italian noodly things.

2.) What do you do to celebrate the Hristmas season?
It mostly involves killing people with a spear (instead of my typical sword) and creepy fanfiction.

3.) For one day you have to be an animal that isn't human, but you get to choose which animal it is. What do you choose, and what do you do for that day?
A tiger, definitely. I'd just stalk around being tigery. I'd prowl, and I'd pounce on people while growling (occasionally snapping their neck with my powerful jaws), and I'd lie on a rock in the sun.

4.) What do you think is the worst weapon ever invented?
The Vagrant Sword. I mean, what the hell?

5.) You find out that Ragnarok begins in one week. What do you do to get ready?
I'd have to call up Odin and tell him I need the Emergency Einheriar program.

You scored as Neo, the "One". Neo is the computer hacker-turned-Messiah of the Matrix. He leads a small group of human rebels against the technology that controls them. Neo doubts his ability to lead but doesn't want to disappoint his friends. His goal is for a world where all men know the Truth and are free from the bonds of the Matrix.

2. Janus (that would be me)
3. Jesus (guess what? me again!)
4. Jesus (the messiah)
5. Jubilee (the restaurant by my house, not the lame X-Men character)
6. Jelly Beans (but only awesome-flavoured ones)
7. Jelly Drink, Grass (but only if someone else is drinking it)
8. Jormungandr (the World Serpent)
9. Jedi Knights (the people, not the game)
10. Jedi Knight (this time it's the game)

1. Does Jesus Save? I mean..that cross looks a little cumbersome.
Yes. All the time. I have messiah-evasion.

2. Can i blame the planewalker DnD game failing on perro?
Absolutely. You won't be entirely correct, though.

3. How is Washington better than Oregon?
About 86% of it is just because of me. The rest is because we generally have cooler people here. I mean, people who are not me.

4. Which do you prefer, Chaotic Evil or Lawful and WHY?
Well, I really like the tanar'ri. Although, Baator is kind of awesome too. So, I guess, we'll look at it from a playing perspective, with which I'll choose LE. This is just because it's easier for me to figure out a LE mindset than a CE one. I don't entirely understand CE, at least not in a way that would allow me to make a playable character out of it.

5. If you could be in any faction other than the Ciphers, which would you choose?
Sensates sound like a lot of fun.

Jul. 28th, 2006 04:39 pm http://www.pakin.org/complaint

Something is happening here, and I'm getting a little worried. Before I launch into my main topic, I want to make a few matters crystal-clear: (1) Sr. Nelio Belmont needs to stop living in a fool's paradise, and (2) as a result of that, Sr. Belmont should know better than to create widespread psychological suffering. Now that you know where I stand on those issues, I can safely say that there is no place in this country where we are safe from his myrmidons, no place where we are not targeted for hatred and attack. This is particularly interesting when you consider that our national media is controlled by rabid lamebrains. That's why you probably haven't heard that Sr. Belmont, already oppressive with his malign, snippy slogans, will perhaps be the ultimate exterminator of our human species -- if separate species we be -- for his reserve of unguessed horrors could never be borne by mortal brains if loosed upon the world. If you think that that's a frightening thought, then consider that there's a time to keep silent and a time to speak. There's a time to love and a time to hate. There's a time for war and a time for peace. And, I insist, there's a time to address a number of important issues. Or, to put it less poetically, in a recent essay, Sr. Belmont stated that Man's eternal search for Truth is a challenge to be avoided at all costs. Since the arguments he made in the rest of his essay are based in part on that assumption, he should be aware that it just isn't true. Not only that, but I recently overheard a couple of pesky, spineless conspiracy theorists say that he is a perpetual victim of injustice. Here, again, we encounter the blurred thinking that is characteristic of this Sr. Belmont-induced era of slogans and propaganda. Let us postulate that different people often see the same subject in different lights. In that case, Sr. Belmont's goombahs tend to fall into the mistaken belief that Sr. Belmont's merely trying to make this world a better place in which to live, mainly because they live inside a Sr. Belmont-generated illusion-world and talk only with each other. I'd like to finish with a quote from a private e-mail message sent to me by a close friend of mine: "Sr. Nelio Belmont has rightly earned the scorn and derision with which he is viewed in many quarters".
